Obama Victorious

It's official. Barack Obama has won the presidency of the United States of America. Crowds gathered in Chicago's Grant Park, in front of the south lawn of the White house, and in streets across the nation to celebrate the historic victory. My own house erupted with joy the moment it had been made official.  States such as Virginia, Iowa, and Colorado, all formerly red States, had Gone Obama's way. JPAC has requested media credentials for the Inauguration and hopes to report again on January 20th. For More up-to-date opinion and analysis, go to politics.jpacforchange.com

The Democratic National Committee Meeting

Barack, Biden, Richardson, Kucinich, Edwards, Pelosi, and Dean were all present at Friday's National Democratic National Committee Meeting in Vienna, VA. It was a truly grand event. Held in the Sheraton Premiere in Tysons Corner, the candidates had a number of booths outside the ballrooms, giving out everything from tattoos to tote bags. Candidates walked the halls greeting people and supporting their workers at the various campaign booths. At ten-thirty, the speeches began with Howard Dean, followed by Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico. Richardson emphasized that he could "Get it done" and that he "knew how to do this because" he's "done it before." John Edwards emphasized his "One America" philosophy and jokingly criticized the San Francisco Forty Niners in the process.  Obama played his usual “Kill Scooter Libby politics" and stated the now widely known campaign tactic that he did not accept money from lobbyists and did not support them. The crowd got into Barack’s speech. When Obama asked "What's next for America?” a member of the audience yelled "BARACK!"  The busiest time was at the recess after Obama spoke. A conga-line of Hillary supporters paraded through the hall with a chant of "Hillary! Hillary!" and were lined up to get in before the first session ended and before the second session began. Governor Riter of Colorado was a few minutes late showing up, and this is when Howard Dean announced that Hillary would not be speaking due to the hostage situation in New Hampshire. With that, nearly half of the general audience left. Kucinich and Biden were strong speakers, and Pelosi made a point to "Unite America." No one said anything truly new today, but everyone spoke about uniting the Democratic Party, the purpose of the day's convention. - Brennan Jones, at the DNC Fall Meeting 2007
